Hello Family and Friends,

It's that time of year and once again, I am so very grateful for your past generosity that you have shown to the students of St. Helena's public schools.  I was honored to have served on the Give BIG! committee for a few years and am so proud of the parents who continue to put their hearts, minds and time to make this  fundraiser a success.  While St. Helena students are fortunate in so many ways, the reality is that we are a community that values enhancing our student's educational experiences to be the best that they can be.  That is where Give BIG! comes in.  The monies raised through this event allows for those "extras" to happen:  STEM and STEAM projects, field trips near and far, music and theater experiences, college campus tours, artists in residence programs, after school programs, birthday books for our younger students and so much more.  

Hard to believe that we are down to one Pelosi student at the high school and it's surreal to think Mia will be wrapping up Junior here shortly with her sights set on New York!  I continue to remain involved with the Parent Group, the St. Helena Drama program and as most of you know, was honored to be appointed to serve as Trustee on the Board of Education.  I felt it was important to give back to the schools that has done so much for our children. There has been much to learn in this new position but it is truly something that I feel committed to.   

Give BIG! will culminate on March 24 but you can donate at any time and again, THANK YOU so very much for your continued support of public educaiton.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

How are your donations spent? / ¿Cómo se utilizan sus donaciones?
The money that is raised is divided among St. Helena's four public schools and managed by St. Helena Public Schools Foundation and each school's parent-teacher group. Teachers (and even students!) apply for grants to fund innovative learning. Give Big spends more than $350 per student, per year. The monies raised pay for special instruction from visiting professional artists, poets, writers, scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. Funds go toward special training for teachers, amazing field trips (hiking in Yosemite, sailing in San Francisco, snorkeling on Catalina Island - to name just a few!) STEM learning tools, media & technology equipment, school celebrations & community events, fine art programs, and so much more. Thank you for your support of St. Helena's public schools!

El dinero recaudado se divide entre las cuatro escuelas que forman parte del Distrito Unificado de St. Helena y es administrado por la Fundación de Escuelas Públicas de St. Helena, el grupo de padres y maestros de cada escuela. Los maestros (¡e incluso los estudiantes!) solicitan becas para financiar el aprendizaje innovador. Give Big asigna más de $ 350 por estudiante, anualmente. Los fondos recaudados se aplican la instrucción especial de artistas profesionales, poetas, escritores, científicos, ingenieros y matemáticos visitantes. Los fondos se destinan a capacitación especial para maestros, increíbles excursiones (excursión en Yosemite, velero en San Francisco, buseo en la isla Catalina, por numerar solo algunas). Herramientas de aprendizaje STEM, equipos de medios y tecnología, actividades escolares y eventos comunitarios, y mucho más. ¡Gracias por su apoyo a las escuelas del Distrito Escolar de St. Helena!
